El r\u00edo Amazonas, uno de los m\u00e1s largos y caudalosos del mundo que atraviesa buena parte de Sudam\u00e9rica, se redujo hasta en un 90% en los \u00faltimos tres meses en Colombia debido a una grave sequ\u00eda, inform\u00f3 este jueves el gobierno.<\/p>\n

\u201cLa l\u00e1mina de agua ha disminuido entre un 80% y 90% en los \u00faltimos tres meses, debido a la sequ\u00eda ocasionada por el cambio clim\u00e1tico en el pa\u00eds\u201d, asegur\u00f3 en un bolet\u00edn la estatal Unidad Nacional para la Gesti\u00f3n del Riesgo de Desastres (UNGRD).<\/p>\n

La cuenca del Amazonas abarca nueve pa\u00edses de Sudam\u00e9rica:\u00a0Brasil, Colombia, Per\u00fa, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Guayana Francesa, y Surinam; algunos de los m\u00e1s golpeados por una inusual escasez de lluvias recientemente..<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

La UNGRD asegur\u00f3 que \u201clos bajos niveles del r\u00edo Amazonas afectan la alimentaci\u00f3n y navegabilidad de las comunidades ind\u00edgenas del departamento\u201d colombiano que lleva el mismo nombre.<\/p>\n

Al menos 7.400 personas est\u00e1n siendo perjudicadas, agreg\u00f3 la entidad.<\/p>\n

Im\u00e1genes capturadas en los \u00faltimos d\u00edas por reporteros de\u00a0AFP<\/i>\u00a0en Leticia, la capital del departamento de Amazonas (sur), muestran peque\u00f1as embarcaciones varadas y grandes islas de tierra y pasto que quedaron al descubierto ante el bajo nivel del agua.<\/p>\n

Esa ciudad, en la triple frontera de Colombia con Brasil y Per\u00fa,\u00a0es clave para el comercio local, que se mueve a trav\u00e9s del r\u00edo.<\/p>\n

Pobladores estiman que se trata de la sequ\u00eda m\u00e1s fuerte que recuerden en medio siglo.<\/p>\n

Sudam\u00e9rica mantiene encendidas las alarmas este a\u00f1o ante una prolongada sequ\u00eda asociada al fen\u00f3meno clim\u00e1tico de El Ni\u00f1o, que ha ocasionado racionamientos de agua y energ\u00eda hidr\u00e1ulica, as\u00ed como incendios forestales hist\u00f3ricos en varios pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n

El observatorio europeo Copernicus, que monitorea de cerca la situaci\u00f3n en la regi\u00f3n,\u00a0calific\u00f3 el lunes los incendios en el inmenso humedal de Pantanal y en la Amazon\u00eda como los peores en casi dos d\u00e9cadas.<\/p>\n

Actualmente hay focos activos en Colombia,\u00a0Per\u00fa<\/a>,\u00a0Ecuador<\/a>, Brasil y Bolivia.<\/p>\n

Bogot\u00e1 se encuentra en racionamiento de agua debido al bajo nivel de los embalses. Expertos se\u00f1alan que la situaci\u00f3n cr\u00edtica en la Amazon\u00eda est\u00e1 relacionada con la ausencia de precipitaciones en la capital colombiana.<\/p>\n
